Becoming context free

This public lecture is offered by Professor Romeo V. Turcan of Aalborg University, Denmark.

Through his lecture, Prof Turcan will argue that ‘becoming context-free’ in pursuit of ‘newness’ is essential in our efforts to enhance inter-disciplinary research and teaching, excel in knowledge transfer – all aimed at enriching social impact of our academic endeavour. Clearly this is not the way, but it may contribute to our holistic academic efforts.

This public lecture is part of the TBRP PhD course and is supported by the School of Business, Engineering and Science, Halmstad University.

The creation and legitimation of new industries

The main issue of this lecture is how to cross the gulf between no industry and embryonic industry in order for a new industry to emerge. A model of new industry creation and legitimation is put forward that theorizes the change from a condition in which an industry does not exist to a final condition in which it is institutionalized.

This is a Book-a-Researcher lecture that is part of the Festival of Research that takes place between April 25 and May 1, 2016.
