This was the first, pilot edition of the PhD supervisor training course in 'Authentic Leadership'.
The course was hosted by Tartu University. It took place on October 12-14, 2021.
The main goal of the PhD Supervisor Training in ‘Authentic Leadership‘ is to enhance doctoral supervisors' (DS) and trainers' of supervisors (TOS) skills and competences in enhancing doctoral students' employability. At the same time, these supervisors and trainers participating in IETN training programmes will be able to introduce and practice new pedagogies in their own institutions and promote these within their own networks.
It is a 2 ECTS course which will provide PhD supervisors with theoretical and conceptual understanding of the concept of Authentic Leadership (AL) and train them in critical reflection and application of AL in different contexts. The course is based on the principle of complex problem solving, bringing in real life problems that PhD supervisors will aim to address.
The course will take place on October 12-14, 2021, being hosted and accredited by University of Tartu, Estonia.
This course is part of the Erasmus+ project titled: International Entrepreneurship Network for PhD and PhD Supervisor Training (IETN) that is implemented by a Consortium of five universities:
- Aalborg University, Denmark (project coordinator)
- Linnæus University, Sweden
- LUT University, Finland
- University of Siegen, Germany
- University of Tartu, Estonia
All involved universities in IETN Consortium have close national and international contacts in the scientific community and business partners through international research projects, which will have spill-over effects on the quality of training material provided to the doctoral researchers. The course will enrol max 25 staff: 4 from each partner university of the IETN project and 5 from outside the Consortium. IETN will cover the participation costs for PhD supervisors from the Consortium. The selection of participants will be based on their application survey (link to survey).
